Die guide pins, working with guide bushings, precisely align upper and lower die plates. Made to tight tolerances (within.0001”, or a “tenth”), they ensure accurate positioning.

There are two main types:

· Friction (Straight) Pins: Slightly smaller than their bushing’s inner diameter.

· Ball(Bearing Pins): Glide on ball bearings in an aluminum cage, letting bearings rotate without falling out.

Choosing between them depends on die fit and project goals. Ball - bearing pins, easier to separate die halves, are industry standard. Straight pins still work for accuracy but are harder to detach from bushings.
